Learning to Eat in Front of Other People Again

For a long time I only ate what felt like normal amounts around other people. The real eating happened when I was alone.

Saving the good stuff for later

I would save the bigger portions, the second helpings, the extra snacks for when no one could see me. It felt safer that way.

The awkwardness of seconds

It took practice to let myself have seconds at dinner without over-explaining. Most people didn't notice or care. The ones who did were never going to be comfortable with me taking up more space anyway.
