Partner said my back looked stronger

We were getting dressed when my partner glanced over and said, 'Your back looks different. Stronger.' Then they went back to what they were doing.

It was the first time anyone had noticed a change in my body without me pointing it out. Before this, I had brought it up myself and braced for the reassurance I had asked for. They saw something, said it, and moved on. I did not need to perform a response.

I had been sensing a change, but gradual progress is hard to trust when you watch for it every day. A casual observation from someone who was not trying to encourage me was easier to believe than a deliberate compliment.
